My 10 Favorite Things Countdown: Number 7 Cherry Blossoms

Hello my name is Jeny and I am a Cherry Blossom Addict. . .

It all started when I was expecting Ballerina, all I wanted for her bedding was cherry blossoms, but they were no where to be found. . . After much searching I did find some fabric and my talented Mother-In-Law came for a hot summer week and sewed in my dark sweltering house while my Beloved and I worked. It was a great visit and I am forever thankful to her for the bedding, curtains, and dust ruffle she created for our nursery. Then mere months after the birth of our baby, cherry blossom nurseries were popping up everywhere. . . .I was appalled.

Here is my Mother-In-Law with the top to the quilt, she took that and the curtains home with her at the end of the week to finish up and then she mailed them over when they were done.

Here's our little girls room all ready for her, minus the quilt and curtains.

Incidentally Here is a picture of what our bedroom looked like at the time. . . not much different.

Anywho, back to my obsession. It happened that when I was expecting Beloise I didn't really change my mind on what to do in the girls room since they would be sharing but my insane brain added birds to the branches of the cherry blossoms so now my obsession is cherry blossom branches with birds on them. . .

And because misery loves company, I am giving away this cute little journal with cherry blossoms and birds on the cover so that you can be obsessed too.

All you have to do is leave a comment about your obsession I will pick one at random and announce the winner in one of Friday's posts.

Check Your Geography

I have always loved school. Before I started school I would pretend that I had homework. Even after I started school and before they handed out homework I pretended that I had homework. Are you getting a glimpse into my strange mind here?

I've always loved geography, and the blank maps where you fill in the countries or . . . States. So just for fun, I found a map of the United States with no state names and tried my hand at filling them in without a list of states. I missed seven. I tried it again with a list of states and only missed two, well technically I transposed them. But I guess if you only miss two that's more than likely the case. My husband on the other hand missed 16 his first try without a state list and I won't even tell you how many he missed the second time but I will tell you that he listed Vermont three times, still missed it. So I guess you could say that my superiority complex is securely in place this morning. Just don't ask me a math question. . .

Give it a try, (right click on the picture and print it) let me know how you do and perhaps I will give you a little gift.  I know you won't cheat because, as my Grandma always tells me, "I know you'll make the right choices." See how much faith I have in you . . . so don't blow it.

Here's your state list:

  1. Alabama
  2. Alaska
  3. Arizona
  4. Arkansas
  5. California
  6. Colorado
  7. Connecticut
  8. Delaware

And my youngest just woke up.

This is the craft I did this weekend.

My oldest painted these coasters at our family reunion a few weeks back. I love them, in fact I love them so much I have decided to hang them on the wall.

So I grabbed a hammer some nails and some ribbon and . . .

Voila! Don and I agree they are adorable. I will be hanging them in the girls room.

Also I am thinking it is time for a giveaway and stat since the month is almost up.

So this month I am giving away a ribbon eyeglass case.

Here is one that I made as a gift  a while back along with the one at the top of this post.

I haven't purchased the ribbon for the giveaway yet, I'm going to the store today, so I can't show you what it will look like but I promise it will be good.

And as a hint I am thinking citrus: lime green, orange, yellow, something like that.

All you have to do to win is tell me what's on your mind.

Songs Around the House + Something for Free(Winner Announced)

Around here we sing for everything and nothing.

We sing because we're happy, we sing because we're freeeeeee . . .

Sorry.

There are a few songs I have made up in order to teach fundamental hygiene that I thought I would share with you.

While brushing the girls teeth I sing:

I love to say AAHH so mom can brush my teeth,
I love to say AAHH so she'll make them nice and clean.
(This causes them to open their mouths wide so that I can get in there)

Spit

I love to say CHEESE so mom can brush my teeth,
I love to say CHEESE so she can make them nice and clean
(Time to brush the front)

Spit, and repeat.

For the cough that never gets covered:

Cover your cough, Cover your cough
If you please cover your sneeze
Cover your cough, Cover your cough
Don't spread germs around.

Thank you! My album of children's songs will be out this fall . . . not really

**Giveaway**
What are your fun tips for teaching obedience, hygiene etc. Comment them here, and on Friday I will draw a number out of a hat and that commenter will get a homemade prize.
